Fake Computer Support Calls
This has been going on quietly since 2008 but has abruptly grown in scale this year, it is being run from call centres based in Kolkata, by teams believed to have access to sales databases from computer and software companies.
If you get a call saying that they are your IT support - Make sure you know who you are talking to. They will get you to check your event logs, tell you there are virus's on your system and they must be removed, they will then attempt to take control of your pc, they will normally inform you of a one time service charge. If you receive any calls like this - please don't do what they say - but get as much information of them as possible. Then report them to the website below.
